Questions
How do I ship the ashes?
After you order, we email a prepaid shipping label and simple packing instructions. Shipping is included in the price.
Do I have to send all of the ashes?
No. Many families keep a portion at home or in a keepsake and send the rest to us. Send whatever amount you would like scattered.
Where exactly are the ashes scattered?
In the Gulf waters off Sarasota, at least three nautical miles from shore as federal rules require. Your confirmation includes the GPS coordinates.
How long after you receive the ashes does the scattering happen?
Usually within two weeks, depending on weather and sea conditions. We confirm the date with you before we go out.
Can I be there without traveling?
Yes. For $50 we either record a video of the scattering for you to keep, or video conference you in live so you can witness it as it happens.
Is scattering ashes at sea legal?
Yes. Scattering at sea is permitted under the EPA general permit when done at least three nautical miles from shore, and we file the required notice.
Will I receive proof it was done?
Every scattering comes with a written confirmation including the date, time and coordinates. If you choose the video option, you receive that as well.
Why don't you charge for shipping?
It doesn't feel right. We want to make this easy and affordable for people and we figured you're going through enough and don't need a hidden fee, too.
